Educate, Empower, Protect: Building Resilient Schools and Communities
This workshop will explore the challenges and opportunities in ensuring educational equity for Black students, with a focus on virtual learning, school safety, and culturally responsive teaching. Moderated by Delegate Edith Patterson, the session will feature educators, parent advocates, and student leaders discussing the effects of book bans, curriculum censorship, and DEI rollbacks. Participants will gain practical tools to protect Black history, support innovation in education, and foster inclusive, empowering learning environments.

Weathering the Storm:
Protecting and Building Black Wealth in Uncertain Times
Black Marylanders are facing today’s toughest economic challenges, from rising housing costs to widespread layoffs. This session, moderated by Senator Antonio Hayes and Delegate N. Scott Phillips, will feature business leaders and financial experts sharing strategies to safeguard and grow Black wealth. Participants will gain practical tools to strengthen financial security, expand business opportunities, and build lasting economic futures for Black communities.

Closing the Gap: Advancing Health Equity & Justice in Maryland
This workshop will focus on addressing health disparities impacting Black women and communities in Maryland, including HIV, diabetes, sickle cell disease, and breast cancer. Moderated by Delegate Joseline Peña-Melnyk and Senator Malcolm Augustine, the panel will feature public health advocates and medical professionals sharing state-specific data and solutions. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies to expand access to care, improve prevention, and help close health equity gaps.

Civil Rights & Justice in Action: Turning Anger into Organized Power
Equity in Action:
Energy Access and Environmental Justice
This town hall will explore the current threats to civil rights and social justice affecting Black communities, from benefit cuts to protest suppression. Moderated by Delegate Stephanie Smith and Senator Shaneka Henson, the session will feature leaders from HBCUs, advocacy groups, and government discussing tools for empowerment and protection. Attendees will walk away with a 90-day action plan to strengthen rights, workplace protections, and community advocacy.
This workshop will explore how energy policy and environmental justice intersect with economic opportunity for Black communities. Moderated by Delegate Regina Boyce and Senator Benjamin Brooks, the discussion will feature energy advocates and community leaders addressing clean energy jobs, affordability, and environmental racism. Participants will gain tools to protect families from rising utility costs, expand access to renewable energy, and advocate for climate justice.
